Did you know that nearly every local council in New Zealand manages a rates rebate scheme on behalf of the Department of Internal Affairs?
The Rates Rebate Scheme is a government-funded subsidy aimed at helping low-income homeowners with the cost of living. The NZ Government's Rates Rebate Scheme offers up to $805.00 per household. $805 in relief for low-income homeowners or residents of retirement villages for the 2025/2026 rating year. Eligibility depends on income, dependents, and rate amount.
Apply through local councils for the 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026 rating year!
